Although Kennan had to face a lot of criticism, because of his containment doctrine that simply seized the expansion of the Soviet Union restricted the Cold War from being a full-fledged war just like any of the World Wars. The Cold War was mainly a conflict because of different ideologies. As both United States and Russia was trying to gain the position of hegemony at that time, both of them simply competed to reserve the best spot for themselves. However, things like capitalism, communism and even dictatorship, made things more complicated for both of the parties.
